The Project
After his “Earth Seen from the Sky” project, the internationally renowned French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand launched his “Six Billion Others” project in 2003.
Six film makers set off to meet Others in 75 different countries. 5,000 people were filmed and interviewed about their lives, fears and dreams, the testing times they had experienced and their hopes … with a view to finding out what separates people and what unites them.
There are more than six billion of us on the Earth
“There will be no sustainable development if we cannot succeed in living together. That’s why “Six Billion Others” is so close to my heart. I believe in it because it concerns every one of us and because it’s an encouragement to take action. I hope that everyone in turn will want to share these encounters, listen to Another and bring “Six Billion Others” to life by adding their own experiences so as to express the wish to live together.”

“Six Billion Others” and BNP Paribas
Inspired by a spirit of openness, curiosity and the desire to exchange ideas and experiences, BNP Paribas has supported “Six Billion Others” from the outset. For the Group, attached as it is to strong ethical and social values, there can be no progress without respect for diversity. Rather than aiming for greater uniformity, BNP Paribas is seeking to reconcile the exercising of power globally with a genuine respect for local cultures.
