Employees from BNP Paribas Korea* cycled across the nation to raise funds and rice for BAFFOR, a charity organisation which provides basic necessities and warm meals to disadvantaged elderly citizens, as well as to people without proper shelter.

The 600km-rally from Pusan to Seoul was divided into five segments over a period of five days.  BNP Paribas’ employees could join for one or several of the following segments: (1) Pusan to Hapcheon-bo (155 km), (2) Hapcheon-bo to Nakdan-bo (150 km), (3) Nakdan-bo to Choongju (130km), (4) Choongju to Yangpyeong (105 km); and (5) Yangpyeong to Seoul (65 km).

BNP Paribas committed to sponsoring 1 kg of rice for every 10 km cycled by each employee. Starting with two employees on 11 October in Pusan, many more employees joined in along the route. Over 20 employees reached the finish line in Banpo Bridge on 15 October!

In addition to the donation of rice, employees from BNP Paribas Korea participated in fundraising and their total donation will be matched by BNP Paribas.

Staff in the Asia Pacific region also organised an internal fundraiser to support their colleagues who joined the rally.

To continue its support, BNP Paribas employees will take part in a one-day voluntary mission at BAFFOR in December, in which they will help cook and serve meals at the centre.
