More than 60 BNP Paribas staff from both Seoul Branch and Securities Korea joined as volunteers in a project to restore the Hae Myeong Boyookwon Media Library, located in a suburb of Seoul. In addition to a monetary donation, they also assisted in maintenance works of the library such as cleaning, painting and installation of new carpets.

Thanks to the volunteers’ help, the library was successfully renovated, with new computer room and facilities, within two weeks’ time. With the donation of 200 new books from a publisher and used books from the BNP Paribas Seoul Branch and Securities Korea staff, more than 400 educational books are added to the library’s collection. In addition to its donated computers, BNP Paribas Seoul Branch also assigned its IT staff to help with the installation of LAN network.

Hae Myeong is a family orphanage located in a less-affluent suburb of Seoul. The library is used by the 80 live-in-orphans and other children living in the neighbourhood. As most of these children’s parents need to work late and cannot afford after-school activities, Hae Myeong gives them a study-friendly place to enrich their knowledge through books and computers.

Initiated by AFC, a non-profit association of French-speakers in Korea, the project was designed and leaded by Han Design Concept Co. Ltd., a Korean company founded by Dutch architect Han Van der Stap, specialised in interior design and project management.
