A young organisation, both in terms of its recent creation and its youthful team, the Tifawte for Development association was born from a shared desire to participate in creating change in our country. We are particularly committed to providing support to rural areas in need. We offer both moral and financial support, resulting in a number of projects across Morocco, including:
Renovation of a classroom
The physical condition of the classroom was very poor. We refurbished the windows, the door and the interior and exterior paintwork, and provided new desks.
Mobile medical clinic
The villages served by this mobile clinic are located in the mountains, more than 30 km from the nearest hospital; accordingly, a large number of people are able to benefit from this initiative. We have been able to dispense medicines to help tackle a number of common diseases in the region, under the careful supervision of a team of 9 skilled doctors.
Construction of a mosque
The new mosque serves a community of more than 2,000 people. This region (TIDILI) previously had only one small and very old mosque.
Distribution of socks
The purpose of this distribution programme was primarily to identify the exact number of children in two remote villages, and thus identify those who are not attending school …
Reconstruction of a classroom
The school is located in a village (Tammaste) in the mountains. The region is quite isolated and subject to heavy snowfall in winter. The classroom was in a dilapidated state and the temperature in the room was freezing.
In addition to the challenging weather conditions, the physical condition of the classroom included, amongst other issues, large cracks in the walls, significant leaks in the roof and broken windows
BMCI’s “Helping Hand” project (“Coup de pouce”) has brought smiles to the faces of many children and has helped to meet the needs of the residents of the Tizi and Tammaste villages.
We also received support from the local office of the Ministry of National Education for the city of Ouarzazate, which helped us to complete the administrative paperwork and which, under a partnership agreement, has provided us with the necessary equipment to equip the new classroom (desks, blackboard). It has also assigned a teacher who is due to start at the beginning of the next school year.
Although the project – just a single classroom – is small, the long-term benefits are enormous. Every year, that one classroom will prepare a significant number of children to take the first step along the path toward building Morocco’s future.
