Hérault Musique Dance is a community organization with a mission: it aims to reinforce the role played by music and dance in the lives of young people in Hérault, a department in France.

This week, we zoom in on “Les Escholiers de la Mosson”, a middle school located in a working-class neighbourhood near Montpellier, where access to arts and culture is not necessarily a given. The organisation’s “artistic class” programme will allow the students to get a taste of these art forms, integrated into their curriculum, all throughout middle school.

In this video, the educators behind this programme and one of the students explain how this educational and cultural experiment has had very real effects in the lives of its participants.

Hérault Musique Dance is supported by the BNP Paribas Foundation’s Projet Banlieues programme.
