Studying ice-cores extracted from the Antarctic enables us to learn more about the composition of the air in earlier times – valuable information for studying climate variations.
In order to obtain data from even earlier ice layers, a team from the Laboratory of Glaciology and Environmental Geophysics in Grenoble, France is now working on a new type of probe, which should reduce drilling time considerably.
