Numerous studies carried out all over the world indicate that greenhouse gases emitted through human activity are the chief cause of current global warming. It is also known that climate fluctuations are at least partly due to natural phenomena such as oceanic oscillations and solar pulses. But the role of these natural phenomena is still poorly understood and it is therefore difficult to predict changes in the climate.
This is the issue which a team from Cerfacs, the international Scientific Computing Research and Training Centre in Toulouse, France hopes to solve with the Preclide project.
