In August 2010, Geojit BNP Paribas joined forces with the NGO Nanma. The program aims to mentor children living in the urban slums. The interactive programs they offer teach these children life skills to help them join the mainstream. The program covers the districts of Malappuram, Calicut, Kannar, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad up to Kasargode in the state of Kerala.
Volunteers provide tutoring sessions to small groups of financially challenged children living in their neighbourhoods. Geojit BNP Paribas’ employees devote their personal time to help and the first committed volunteers set the stone rolling by according 6 hours per month to this cause.
Pictured here is a group of children in an umbrella-making workshop, which took place during a camp organized in December 2010 by Nanma and another organization, Rajagiri Outreach.
As of today, 1,000 children in 30 schools have been able to take advantage of the programme!
