The stunning island of Ischia, the largest of the three islands in the Gulf of Naples, Italy, is the setting of an international mid-summer event called the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest. Sponsored once again this year by BNL, the festival is being held from July 11-18, with an aim to showcase international and Italian movies in addition to documentaries and shorts.
Mexico is the official guest country at the 8th edition of the fest, and will be represented by young director and cinematographer Jonas Cuaron. Audiences will see a preview of “Revolucion”, a compilation of 10 short films about the Mexican Revolution. Since the festival began, Ischia has extended a warm welcome to India, China, Russia, Germany, Brazil, Japan and South Africa as official guest countries.
72 films will screened throughout the event, including international premieres and 12 historical films in honour of the 150 years of Italian unification. An international music symposium, several seminars led by major film producers and directors, a global production summit on cinema in a digital and 3D era, and a photo exhibition tracing the history and development of Italian cinema are all on the program for this year’s event.
