World Environment Day, held on the 5th of June, was an opportunity for BNP Paribas Fortis France to announce the results of an employee photo competition that was launched during Sustainable Development Week in April.
The theme, meant to be very broad, asked “What is your personal representation of sustainable development?” Amateur photographers had 2 months to develop their ideas about this concept and then submit three of their most inspiring photos. All employees were then able to, vote via the intranet, to elect the three finalists.
BNP Paribas Fortis France has been engaged in the environment for several years, and this contest helped extend our team’s involvement with the theme. A number of activities to raise awareness have already been put into place. including a carbon footprint assessment that was carried out in 2009 to measure the CO2 emissions of 1,300 employees and their activities. An action plan was then put into place to reduce these emissions.
