Following its previous support in 2008 and 2009, BNP Paribas will be the 2010 lead sponsor for MillionTreesNYC, a citywide tree planting initiative that serves as a key component of New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s environmental plan, PlaNYC.
With an ambitious goal of planting one million trees and increasing New York’s urban forest by 20 percent by 2017, MillionTreesNYC is a public-private partnership led by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and non-profit New York Restoration Project (NYRP). To date, the program has already planted over 315,000 trees citywide.
BNP Paribas’ sponsorship includes the procurement and planting of trees, youth tree education programs, community outreach activities and public service announcements.
This year, BNP Paribas employees will volunteer for two main events:
On April 24th (NYC Parks Reforestation Day), volunteers will plant trees at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn along with family, friends and members of the community.
On April 30th BNP Paribas volunteers will participate in an Arbor Day tree planting in Brooklyn.
