In Taiwan, employees of Cardif and BNP Paribas are banding together for the collection of used literature. During the first week of February, collection boxes were set up in office buildings in many branches to collect books for this Charity program. The destination for all the books is the Mollie Used Book House located in Taipei. The Mollie Used Book House will be donating 130% of the purchase price of each book to the Syin-lu Social Welfare.
Syin-lu Social Welfare, one of the largest Charity Funds in Taiwan, provides lifelong education and care to people with disabilities. Also, in recent years with the rise in the cost of living and stagnating wages, the Foundation has seen their contributions diminish.
The staff is very happy to have the opportunity to donate to this meaningful cause!

IDE: to create income opportunities for poor rural households
Project Why: to create a model of education for for children in India

Update from our friends in Taiwan:
Over 1,100 used books and CD’s were collected by the employees, with more on the way. As of February 5th, the Mollie Used Book House will be donating NT$11,440 (258€) to the Syin-lu Social Welfare Foundation!
Great idea! How many books each of us owns without reading them no more…so I think it could be a good proposal to organize periodically this kind of collections in our branches for several charity programs as you did last month.
I work in BNL, the italian bank of BNP, and I’ll try to talk about this idea in my structure. Antonia
