The Italian Telethon, which took place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of December 2009, succeeded in raising, despite the crisis, a sum of 31,210,000 euros in its televised 60-hour marathon.
Thanks to the initiatives and commitments of BNL, a partner of the Telethon for 18 years, they have helped raise over 185 million euros for the fight against muscular and genetic diseases.

Over the years, this adds up to 444 different genres of research financed on genetic diseases and 2,200 projects supported by BNL.
This year BNL organized many events in lieu of the Telethon: Tasting of local products at their headquarters; a meet and greet with comic book writer Allessandro Piccinelli; a 6-hour dance performance punctuated by the reading of stories for the young and old; and also the initiative “Schools in the street,” which aims to educate over 850 students from several different schools on issues related to genetic diseases through scavenger hunts, games, and photography.
BNL has also helped collect 13 million euros which will fund the research of talented young Italian scientists, so they will be able to continue their studies and research in Italy.
