A powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake shook Haiti on Tuesday 12 January. In the wake of this devastating natural disaster, BNP Paribas has decided to support the relief effort.

BNP Paribas is donating one million euros to the Fondation de France and is putting in place a system to match donations received by employees.

The Fondation de France was established in 1969 to encourage the growth of all forms of private philanthropy. Its role as an intermediary partner is to help individuals and companies who wish to make an act of generosity, to do so in the way that best responds to the needs of society.

The funds received for Haiti will be distributed to associations helping victims of the earthquake once the immediate first phase of aid has been carried out, to help them rebuild their lives following this disaster.
Certain countries or business lines have close links with NGOs and have already put in place systems for employees and others to donate.

In Spain the bank advises to make donation to the association Fundación Lealtad.

In Italy, BNL, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas, is encouraging its employees and clients to make their donations to the Italian Red Cross.

BNP Paribas Fortis, in collaboration with the Belgian Red Cross, has also pledged to lend its support to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. They will also be matching overall employee donations up to 250,000 euros.

For BNP Paribas employees: In order for your donations to be matched, follow the “Fondation de France” link indicated on your intranet.
