On Sunday, 22 November 2009 , close to 6,000 people participated in the annual run to raise funds for cancer research in Singapore. Amongst them were 28 staff from BNP Paribas and BNP Paribas Fortis who jointly took part in the event, “Run for Hope“, to support the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), one of the organisers of the charity event. Funds raised will be used by NCCS for an array of basic, translational and clinical research programmes.
This marks the first time that staff from both BNP Paribas and BNP Paribas Fortis has come together in a joint effort to support a meaningful cause. The event was well-received by enthusiastic staff who were keen to be part of this charity run. It was also a great way to engage employees to be part of the bank’s CSR efforts.

Early this year, BNP Paribas and the BNP Paribas Foundation, together with the NCCS, launched the BNP Paribas-NCCS Regional Fellowship Programme. The programme provides post-graduate medical training for doctors who are involved in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients, in developing countries in Asia. It also aims to facilitate cross-border transfer of knowledge skills and technology in the field of oncology, between NCCS and a partner medical institution from a regional developing country.
