After participating in festivals in France (Dijon, Thau, …) and abroad (Algiers, Geneva, Tournai, …) the project “6 billion Others” has been selected by the International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam.

The project, funded by BNP Paribas since inception, along with the site www.6billionothers.org was featured in the category Doc Lab. Doc Lab is a showcase of new forms of documentary filmmaking and storytelling – both online and offline. This year the theme was Live Stories. The filmmakers were therefore invited to interact on stage with their film, creating a documentary story live on the big screen.

Each year since 1988, IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam) presents some of the best documentaries selected among a vast field. This selection is made on the basis of clear criteria: in short, IDFA looks for documentaries that are interesting from a standpoint of style, are particularly innovative, and relevant to social issues. The most important aspect, of course, is how the public interacts and receives the message of the film.

On November 23rd and 24th, Baptiste Rouget Luchaire and Sibylle  d’Orgeval (co-authors of 6 billion Others) presented the many testimonies of 6 billion Others, explaining the project and answering audience questions.
