BNP Paribas Singapore, thanks to the new acquisition of Fortis Bank, is now part owner of a van destined to help in transporting the handicapped. In association with Singapore Handicaps Welfare Association (SHWA) the van is used to transport handicapped individuals from their home, hospitals, the workplace, and recreational activities at a minimum cost. The goal of this barrier-free service is to give and ensure mobility and productivity. The van covers the western region of Singapore, where the association SHWA is currently located.

Handicaps Welfare Association was founded in 1969 with the mission of promoting self-help and providing mutual support among the disabled community in Singapore. It is an organisation “run by people with disabilities, for people with disabilities.” The association, boasting 1,700 members and a staff of 42, has many objectives such as obtaining necessary benefits and concessions for people with disabilities, creating awareness on a community and government level, and enhancing educational opportunities for the disabled through scholarships, grants, and subsidies.
