The third edition of Pasteurdon, an awareness operation and call for donations to the Pasteur Institute, will take place from the 5th to the 11th, October 2009. This year the event is organised with a new partnership with several television channels, which for the first time unite their efforts, choosing to support the Institut Pasteur.

Again this year, BNP Paribas supports Pasteurdon as well as many radio programs and personalities, such as Etienne Daho, host of this year’s edition, with Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, a researcher at the Pasteur Institute and Nobel Laureate in Medicine 2008.

In the cities of Paris, Bordeaux, Rouen and Besancon, a “village Pasteurdon” will be constructed, featuring a thematic exhibition on diseases, science workshops for young audiences and information spaces.

Why help the Institut Pasteur?

The Institut Pasteur Foundation is a private non-profit institution and one-third of the budget relies on the generosity of the public (donations and bequests). With the support of its donors, the Institut Pasteur preserves its autonomy and freedom of research. It is this independence which allows it to respond rapidly and effectively to public health needs, such as its mobilization against the new influenza A (H1N1) this year. To cope with rising costs of research, which requires the daunting task of acquiring ever more sophisticated equipment, public support is essential to researchers of the Institut Pasteur.
