The Diversity Council, in partnership with Human Resources, hosted the first Work Life Balance Month in BNP Paribas USA in May 2008 .

The Fair offered information and activities, including:
-raffle to win a free day off
-free healthy snacks
-free blood pressure screening
-wellness information from UHC
-mini-golf putting game
-information table for Diversity Council and HR questions
-Bright Horizons childcare representative
In addition, throughout the month there were several classes, including:
- Yoga
- Meditation for Stress Reduction
- A Nutrition Seminar – “Eating for Wellness”
- A Wellness Seminar – “Stress and Immunity”
The initiative was a success as many employees attended the sessions and were interested in learning more about how to find a better balance between their professional and private life.
Rachael Akohonae, Head of Diversity and Employee Relations, US shared her motivations to organize this event:
“ Surveys demonstrate that work life balance ranks among the top preferences that employees have, in terms of job satisfaction at their workplace . By organizing this event we recognize the fact that in order to support and encourage our diverse talents, we need to provide an environment that is supportive of work life balance.”
