The association Solidarity Handicap SH92 was created and run by parents of handicap children. It aims at providing different kinds of activities for the children and at training their parents to be better prepared to take care of their children.

Muriel Kimmerlin and Jean-Pierre Boussard, employees of BNP Paribas France, are active members of the association SH92 and have twice received funding from the Helping Hand programme of BNP Paribas Foundation.

The association organizes activities for about 50 children, suffering from different kinds of handicap. With the help of the wide range of activities, such as music, poney, swimming, circus and many others, the children impore their physical condition, but also develop their capacity to interact with each other.

All the activities organized by the association are supervised by professionals.

Muriel explained the importance of the association as the following: “SH92 brings along a true solidarity between the families. It helps us exchange experience, ideas, and be able to help each other. It provides a platform fto discuss the problems that we all face on a daily basis and allowes us to not feel alone and isolated, which unfortunately is often the case when one is confronted with a handicap.”

For that reason, the association organizes once a year a week-end out of town, in order to provide an opportunity for the parents to share their experience and feelings, while their children are taken care of by professionals.

Here are some examples of the activities, organized by the association:
