One Day Out from the Orphanage is a project of BNP Paribas S.A. – Sofia Branch which aims to support children, deprived of parental cares in social homes.
The socially disadvantaged background is considered to be one of the reasons for many problems orphans will face at school, in their communication with other persons, in their everyday activities. Socialisation is therefore essential. The program consists of taking orphans out once a month and giving them the oppportunity to experience what other children regularly enjoy: museums, circus, children’s theater, sports … and a nice meal on top of this. The Bank also buys activity toys and educational equipment for the orphans.
This program started on the 9th of December 2007; the first beneficiaries were children from the orphanage “Radost” in the village of Dren near Sofia. Until now, the orphans benefited from 16 days out!
On April 15th, the 16th day out from the orphanage has brought a very pleasant Easter surprise for the children: a visit to the multicolored show of circus “Balkanski”. The performance was followed by a nice meal and became one of the merriest and most memorable happenings for the orphans.
