BNP Paribas in Australia has provided support for the people and communities who have lost so much in the devastating bushfires in the state of Victoria, not far from the major city of Melbourne.

The Group made a donation to the “2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund” set up by the Australian Government with the Red Cross in Australia.BNP Paribas also encouraged staff in Australia to make donations through a voluntary salary sacrifice. In total, the amount donated by staff matched the Group’s donation.


More than 200 people were killed and over 1,800 homes destroyed in the bushfires last February, in what has become the worst natural disaster in the history of the country.
