In November 2008, BNP Paribas Poland invited more than 500 children from several orphanages in Warsaw region took part of a cartoon festival.  The children enjoyed free screening of recent blockbuster “Arthur et les minimoys” by Luc Besson, the classics “Peter and the Wolf”and “The Magic Roundabout”, and  also a presentation of the Polish film“Tytus, Romek & A’Tomek among thieves of dreams” based on popular comic book. 

The mission of the event was to combine entertainment with education, to let the children watch the films and discover the secrets of the art of animation. Therefore, in addition  enjoying  the films, they could meet producers, animators and actors involved in a process of movie production, especially invited for this event.

Ms.Marzena Adamczyk, director of Orphanage nr 14 in Otwock shared her satisfaction with the event. “Our children participated with great enthusiasm, in the meetings with dubbing actors and animators.’ she said, ‘That was very valuable experience for them, especially that this was the first time they participated in this kind of event. They watched all the movies with great interest and awareness. During the breaks they were exchanging opinions about the movies and anticipated on the ones yet to be seen.”

Due to the success of this first of its kind charity action, there are already plans for expand the educational aspect of the initiative in the future in Poland. Organized workshops about animated film production could help children develop their skills and perhaps to even awake dormant talents.
