Join us in our commitment to a changing world!

Welcome to forachangingworld.com, the BNP Paribas blog on goodwill initiatives. As one of the world’s ten leading banks, BNP Paribas and its 170,000 employees are now present in more than 85 countries.

Since the merger which led to the formation of BNP Paribas in 2000, it has always been the bank’s intention to reconcile performance and responsibility, both in the daily operation of its business and in its policy of sponsorship and partnerships. Historically a partner of micro-credit but also of the Telethon in Italy and France and of many associations working to counteract exclusion and to promote education, development or health, BNP Paribas is also recognised worldwide for the support it offers to young artists and to disseminating and preserving our cultural heritage. Over the years, quietly and progressively through local initiatives and collaborative actions and through decisions taken at Group level, BNP Paribas has become a major initiator and a unique laboratory for innovation in the area of social responsibility.

Naturally, our undertakings concern the challenges of our times: the environment, health, education, diversity, solidarity, culture, and so on. The initiatives with which we are associated locally are designed to tackle specific problems including, for example, improving the education of girls in Turkey, helping young parents in France to combine working life and family life, or improving air quality in New York. In certain areas, such as that of handicapped, our experience permits us to acquire certain competences. We are also supporting charitable actions linked to the world of tennis, of which we have been a leading partner for many years. Lastly, we are supporting projects on an international scale such as the “6 Billion Others” project of Yann Arthus-Bertrand, aimed at encouraging each one of us to take greater interest in others with the aim of understanding them better.

The commitment of BNP Paribas is characterised by actions that are highly diverse but inspired by a coherent vision. In the present crisis, we are more determined than ever to affirm our desire to be the bank of the real economy, in both our commercial activities and our good citizenship undertakings. So to us “committing ourselves to a changing world” means associating ourselves with the campaigns of local people wherever the financial, social or environmental situation requires change. What these commitments have in common is our determination to help build a fairer and more united future. We believe the time has come to make all these initiatives public, not only in order to make them known but also to encourage the exchange of best practices and of feedback so that the Group or its employees can target their future actions even better.

That is the objective of this blog. The reactions, accounts of personal experiences and ideas that are added to it and that breathe life into it will help us to achieve this aim. So, all of you, please don’t hesitate: join us in our commitment to a changing world by contributing to this blog.
