Sponsored by BNP Paribas, this October the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts in London will present an exhibition of works selected from the collections of the “Fondation Aimé Maeght”, in Saint-Paul-de Vence, France. The exhibition, entitled ‘Miro, Calder, Giacomettie and Braque: Aimé Maeght and his artists’, will contain more than 140 paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints and artists’ books by these four artists, as well as works by Bonnard and Matisse.

The exhibition tells the story of the remarkable role played in the history of 20th century art by Maeght, an outstanding art-dealer, exhibitor and collector, who founded the celebrated Galerie Maeght in Paris in 1945. The Royal Academy’s exhibition captures the essence of Aimé Maeght’s collections and each work embodies the adventurous, innovative mood that defined the landscape in post-war Paris. Sharing this bold new spirit, each of the four artists represented by Maeght brought to their work values that still strongly resonate with people today.

Originality and innovation are universal human values which are the foundation of all progress. They are evident throughout the work of these artists.
