The BNP Paribas Foundation and BNL, a subsidiary of the BNP Paribas Group, sponsor Jean-Christophe Frisch and his ensemble le Baroque Nomade.
A French Baroque flautist and conductor, Jean-Christophe Frisch founded the Baroque music ensemble, known as XVIII-21, in 2006, as its musical director. Aiming to fuse different kinds of world music with the music of the past, he gave new life, last September 23rd and 24th, to the works of the musician Il Pellegrino, at the Villa Medici in Rome.
An XVIIth-century Italian composer, Pietro Della Valle, otherwise known as Pellegrino, was a great adventurer and traveller. He travelled all over the known world before returning to compose music that, while remaining very much Italian, borrowed some characteristics from the music of the East… a subtle combination that has clearly seduced Jean-Christophe Frisch, a French musician who has never ceased to astonish audiences with his daring and inventiveness.
