The choreographer Mourad Merzouki, founder of the Käfig Company, and sponsored by the BNP Paribas Foundation since its beginnings in 1996, presented a new and very well received work at the Biennale de la Danse de Lyon on 7 September 2008.

The choreography was based on carioca dance performed by the Companhia Urbana de Dançar, a group from the shanty towns in Rio de Janeiro which performed two works, “Suite Funk” and “Agwa”, a mixture of hip-hop and capoeira. With this spectacular show, the Käfig Company once again succeeded in affirming its unique style and imparting an exhilarating sense of energy to the audience.
