BNP Paribas USA has quite naturally associated itself with an ambitious project recently launched by New Yorkers: to plant and maintain a million trees in the city’s five boroughs over a period of about ten years.

Since 2007, the entity that originated this project, the MillionTreesNYC association, has been trying to raise New Yorkers’ awareness of their environment so as to make it a healthy and sustainable city. A million trees will increase the city’s “urban forest” by 20% and improve the environment of its citizens (cleaner air, a reduction in pollutants resulting in less respiratory diseases, etc.).

During the month-long MillionTrees NYC event, BNP Paribas has had a mobile greenhouse built. Moving from borough to borough, this facility enables New Yorkers to learn about the project, make donations or even buy a tree. Days are organised so that each person can plant their tree with a common objective: clean air for New York.

The initiative appeals to individuals, companies, associations, property managers and schools alike – a collective project for a more beautiful city.
